That Wasn’t the Plan: Reg Sherren launches memoir

Reg Sherren, a well-loved Canadian reporter, is launching his memoir, That Wasn’t the Plan (Douglas & McIntyre, $24.95) at an online event hosted by McNally Robinson. Join him on Zoom in conversation with CBC News host Janet Stewart at 7:00pm CT on Saturday, Oct 03, 2020. Registration at is required to directly participate in the Zoom webinar.

Many Canadians will remember Reg Sherren as the host of the popular CBC TV program Country Canada. Others will recall his many years as feature reporter and Winnipeg correspondent for CBC’s flagship news program, The National. His memoir, That Wasn’t the Plan, is a fast-paced, behind-the-scenes look at forty years of Canadian Journalism.

Reg Sherren is a popular commentator, writer and freelance producer. A two-time Gemini and Canadian Screen Award nominee, Sherren has also been the recipient of numerous journalism awards from various international film and video festivals, as well as the Radio-Television News Directors’ Association. He lives in Winnipeg.

Janet Stewart hosts CBC Winnipeg News, bringing audiences news and stories of local neighbourhoods and communities each weeknight. With more than 20 years of journalistic experience, Stewart is a multiple Canadian Screen Award nominee in the Best News Anchor (Local) category. When the Screen Awards were called the Geminis, she was nominated as Best News Anchor in Canada, alongside Peter Mansbridge, Diana Swain and Heather Hiscox. She has worked as a CBC Radio host and reporter, as a columnist for the Winnipeg Free Press and as a reporter and anchor for CTV and Global in Nova Scotia and Winnipeg.
